From Füssen

As I write, thunder rumbles and crashes, and heavy rain is falling. The raindrops are the largest I have ever seen.

It has been a good day with a fast train from Stuttgart after the most amazing breakfast with more variety than you could imagine. Wonderful fruit in particular with berry and cherry compotes as well as diced mango taking my fancy.

We then take a slow stopping train to Füssen and arrive before four. We check into our hotel which delights with its Scandi style rooms And balconies.

We hunt down tea/beer in a pavement café in this pretty town, surrounded by mountains. How great to have four nights here! We are able to unpack!

We have gradually been getting to know others in our party: four people from Knowle, so close to where I grew up, Mike who was 'in the city' and now frequently goes off on camera shoots around the world as a hobby, and a delightful quartet of Americans......very definitely NOT republicans, who have made real to us what it is to live in Trump Land.

Tomorrow we head for zugspitz though it might be a very wet trip if today is anything to go by!
